About the Role

We have exciting opportunities for Laundry Hands to join our team in a casual capacity working across a 7-day week.

About the role
This position is responsible for washing, drying, sorting, folding and distribution of all linen and resident clothing in a tidy and efficient manner.

If you are looking to work casually on week days and/or weekends, looking for 6 hour shifts, for example, between 9am and 3pm, you are a pensioner looking for casual work or even if your preference is working at nights, we would love to hear from you! We are flexible and open to accommodate days and hours that best work for you!

Requirements

 

  • Ensuring Linen and clothes are sorted, laundered and folded.

  • Linen stock levels are recorded and the quality of linen is reported on

  • Labelling of resident clothing

  • Returning residents clothing, clean, neatly folded and ironed in a timely manner

  • Treating clothes and linen with stain remover and scrubbing with sponge or brush to remove spots or stains

  • Maintaining resident clothing storage in a neat and tidy manner.

  • Use of linen trolleys to transport linen and clothing to and from storage areas.

  • Ensuring linen cupboards and storage areas are tidy and clean. Filters of washing machines and dryers are cleaned after each use.

  • Maintaining Laundry area in a neat and tidy manner.

  • Store chemicals appropriately and utilise following procedures.

  • Maintain inventory of all cleaning and linen supplies and communicate needs to Facilities Manager.

  • Monitor all laundry equipment and inform Facilities Manager as to any maintenance needs.

  • Adhere to Infection Control processes to at all times.

  • Adhere to OH&S policies and procedures at all times.

 

Skills & experience

  • Experience within a laundry-based role (optional),

  • Previous experience working in an aged environment (optional),

  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively and compassionately,

  • Demonstrated initiative and the capability to work with minimal supervision.
